It is with great enthusiasm that we announce that Westminster has been awarded one of the 76 Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) grants awarded this year!  This is a highly competitive grant, awarded to just 76 of the 580 schools and agencies who applied nationally.  This grant, provided through the U.S. Department of education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, is a three-year grant totaling approximately $420,000.  The goals of the grant include implementing effective PE programming, increasing daily physical activity and promoting lifelong healthy eating and activity habits - something we have already begun to focus on at WCCS.

This year's funding will allow us to add a licensed Nutritionist, evidence-based fitness and nutrition curricula, professional development and personal wellness programs for each student.  In addition, and undoubtedly most exciting for our students, is the funding for a state-of-the art fitness room and an indoor challenge course anchored by a 25' climbing wall.

Please be sure to stop by the PE office to ask Mr. Lynch and Mr. Moonan about this exciting news and the exciting plans for this grant.
